While the accommodation was cozy, the absence of a dresser meant clothes had to be stored in the hall cupboard's upper shelves, which wasn't ideal. The hotel lacked a direct sand beach. Instead, large rocks separated it from the water, necessitating a drive to find a proper public beach. The lack of air conditioning required leaving windows open at night, which let in a few insects when the lights were on.

Comfortable hotel with a helpful staff and a beach bar. Absolutely fantastic building and rooms with contemporary decoration. Location - amazing, close enough to restaurants in town, and the tipical new Zealand beautiful beach. Also, by the sea.

Amazing ocean views from our One-Bedroom Apartment Beachfront enhanced our experience. Noise between units was a downside.

Great location; right on the beach. The staff / owners were great - very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about local activities. They suggested a couple of good options. Very clean & tidy unit, lots of space. Lovely outdoor table and chairs on beachfront, a drink at the "bar" would be perfect on a lovely summer's evening.
No complaint at all - recommended for families as well as couples.

Worth its 4 stars. Wonderful views were a bonus! Not far from the downtown, 15 minutes on foot.

We truly enjoyed our time in the one-bedroom apartment with an incredible beachfront view. The entire place was spotless, and having a fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. After a long day, the hot tub was a wonderful way to relax while soaking in the mesmerizing ocean scenery. It was also great to be so close to local attractions, like Bread and Butter Gallery and Mercury Bay Museum, both just a short drive away.

Clean quiet room with kitchen. Owners very nice and helpful. BBQ facilities came in handy. Hotel owners two cats visited us!

A serene escape with fine views
Waking up to the amazing ocean view from our apartment was a moment to cherish. The well-equipped kitchen made meal prep a joy, and the hot tub was perfect after a day of exploring.
The absence of air conditioning meant that we needed to leave windows open at night, inviting a few pesky insects inside. Not an ideal scenario, but manageable with some precautions.

The beachfront position was gorgeous. The view of the sea and the path and steps to the sand were beautiful and I enjoyed having a glass of wine at the outdoor area and looking at the sea. Also the couple running the resort I felt did care and were very friendly - as were the cleaning staff who did a superb job and were happy to answer my queries.
I din't like the smell of the bathroom. I mentioned this to the owner and he was going to get a plumber, but really felt this should have been addressed before guests arrived. I din't like the noise of the fridge and see other guests have complained about it but it appears nothing has been done. It is kind of annoying being woken up in the middle of the night with the noise. (I suggest it be enclosed to reduce the noise.) Also I felt it needed a major update as it looks about 20 years out of date and I don't think should really command the premium price it does.

Stunning location, garden stretches down to sandy beach. We used the motels Booked.nets to paddle round the bay and up a creek , then did a little Booked.net surfing before a quick and chillly swim before retiring to the garden hotpool.Idylic location. Large gas bbq and tables overlooking the beach and beautiful garden. Motel unit was spotless, (owner has a good eye), nice beds and bed linen. Would deff stay again and worth paying extra to be right on the beach front.
Our unit was slightly too small for 4 (messy)adults. We had no clothes storage so lived out of our cases, we would have struggled if we had stayed for a week, but we managed fine for our two night stay.

Would stay here again
The beachfront apartment was amazing! Sparkling clean, with a kitchen with an electric kettle, microwave, and oven. Loved the comfy sofa in the seating area and the cozy bed with electric blankets. Hot tub was a highlight along with the lovely outdoor dining area. The views were just fine!
